This training program was developed for individuals using or working with lasers in manufacturing, research or educational settings.
Medical Laser Safety Awareness
The vast majority of lasers used in hospitals, outpatient surgical centers and clinics are Class 4 systems that by definition present potential eye and skin hazards as well as fire hazards. This training program was developed for nurses, surgical technicians, biomedical engineers or any other personnel working in a medical setting using lasers who has been designated the Laser Safety Officer. Clinical, technical and administrative aspects and how to set-up and administer a laser safety program will be covered in detail in this course. This course will also address the beam and non-beam safety issues and present methods for controlling these hazards. All Laservision training is designed to meet the OSHA referenced ANSI Z136.1 "Safe Use of Lasers" standard and the JCAHO, AAAHC and OSHA referenced ANSI Z136.3 "Safe Use of Lasers in Health Care Facilities" standard.
